Description
Nooristan is remote and inaccessible province of Afghanistan. Nooristans are one of the most finely woven lines of carpets produced anywhere in the world, made with with all natural dyes and handspun wool. These rugs are woven by Turkmen weavers using a Persian knot. The weaving is approximately 15×15, or 225 knots per square inch.
Designs vary from the finely knotted carpets of the Persian tradition, such as Bidjar, Kashan, Tabriz and Farahan Sarouk, to Mughal carpets, Mamluk carpets and other lesser-known types of designs.
