Description
The village of Sarouk is located in the province of Markazi in central Iran,
right in the middle of the Arak weaving district. Sarouk rugs are designed with
either geometric or curvilinear patterns, and are offered in both traditional
and American styles. These latter styles are created with the American market in
mind.
Sarouks are woven with symmetrical knotting, featuring hexagons, diamonds,
ovals, or angular medallions as the primary design motifs, frequently with a
blue border. Colors are predominantly red, green, ivory, light blue, and dark
orange, and salmon.
