Description
Shiraz is the capital of the Fars province in the south, and home to the famous
Qashqai tribe. Shiraz rugs are nomadic pieces that are almost always geometric
in design, with central medallions or pole medallions and geometric figures.
They are more coarsely knotted than related designs such as Qashqai and Abadeh,
and frequently larger in size. These simpler designs are woven fully of wool in
both the pile and foundation.
